Negative consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic for the manufacturing industry intensified in April.
Usually the first quarter of a year brings about a slowdown in general economic activity which manifests in a quarterly decline in the IRG SGH barometer (BARIRG). In this regard the 1st quarter of 2020 is not an exception. The barometer decreased by 2.8 pts to -8.9 pts, and is now by 6.6 pts lower than one year earlier.
On September 12-14, 2018, Elżbieta Adamowicz and Konrad Walczyk from Research Institute on Economic Development and Michał Bernardelli, Bartosz Witkowski and Emilia Tomczyk from Institute of Econometrics participated in the 34th international CIRET conference in Rio de Janeiro -"Economic Tendency Surveys and Economic Policy (The use of Big Data in Economic Cycle Statistics and Research)" organized in Rio de Janeiro in cooperation with KOF and Getulio Vargas Foundation FGV.
