Survey results - the 4th quarter of 2022
The slump in the agricultural economy continued in the 4
th quarter of 2022. The agriculture confidence index (IRGAGR) decreased in comparison with the 3
rd quarter by 3.9 pts to -20.8 pts. It is now 9.1 pts down from the respective year 2021 figure. The decline of IRGAGR is primarily due to farmers’ low expectations of their revenues in the coming months. As low as only 10% of the surveyed farmers optimistically assessed their economic standing in the near future, which is the record lowest figure. The survey balances of the purchase of fertilizers, fodder and plant protection products, and of investments dropped, persisting at very low levels. Negative seasonal factors are going to impact in the next quarter, hence, no improvement in the agriculture sector should be expected to come up soon.
