The slowdown in manufacturing industry is continuing to unfold. The industrial confidence indicator (ICI) decreased by 5.1 pts in June, and is now 17.7 pts down from the respective year 2021 figure. The drop in ICI in May and June, i.e. in months which usually bring about seasonal recovery in manufacturing activity, is a result of strong negative factors that have deepened the downturn effected by supply disruptions on energy, raw materials and some intermediate goods markets ca. one year ago.
Manufacturers reported a decline in production, total and export orders, and employment. Their financial situation deteriorated. The producer price level declined again, together with firms’ opinions about general economic situation in Poland and its prospects. Manufacturers expect business activity in the sector to diminish over the next months.
