Research refers to population changes and their socio-economic context in Europe, especially to family and household related changes, mutidimensional aspects of fertility developments, including effects of late fertility as well as population ageing and its impacts on the labour market, social security, health and care systems. A remarkable part of studies concerns interrelationships between the labour market, family and welfare state. Health, reproductive health, and mortality are also studied. Population-related policy and reforms of social policy under the new demographics in Europe are in focus as well. Demographic modelling and demographic projections, including microsimulation models, and the event history analysis constitute a separate research field. A remarkable part of research is based on individual data, coming either from the CSO surveys or special sample-based surveys (cross-sectional, retrospective and panel ones) at the national and international levels. The studies refer to leading concepts defined by demographers, economists and sociologists and make use of advanced analytical techniques. Their main stream is determined by doctoral theses prepared by young researchers. The Centre cooperates on a steady basis with the Central Statistical Office, the Ministry of Labour and Social Policy, the University of Warsaw, the Institute of Labour and Social Issues, the Institute of Market Economy and the Central European Forum for Migration and Population Research.
