1 st Open International Didactic Seminar on Business Intelligence and Data Science
Institute of Information Systems and Digital
Economy, Collegium of Economic Analysis at SGH Warsaw School of Economics,
together with partners from the Czech Republic, Hungary, Lithuania, Poland,
Romania, Slovakia and Ukraine organized an open international didactic seminar
on Business Intelligence and Data Science, which was held on 04/16/2021 on the
Microsoft Teams platform. During the seminar, experts discussed the priorities
of teaching in the field of Business Intelligence and Data Science in the face of
the challenges of distance learning.
- The seminar was
opened by the Vice-Dean of the Collegium of Economic Analysis, prof. Robert
Kruszewski, who in his inaugural speech emphasized the importance of
interdisciplinary and international cooperation in this field.
- The substantive
part of the seminar was started by invited speaker, prof. William van der Aalst
from the Technical University of Aachen (RWTH Aachen University), who gave a
lecture on process mining. Process mining is particularly important in industry
4.0 and in robotic process automation. A look at this field from within the
research community that started this research was a very valuable part of the
seminar.
- The second lecture
was given by Marcin Kaźmierczak from Google Cloud Poland, who presented the
Google Cloud Warsaw Region, opened a few days ago, and its offer of didactic
support for universities in the region.
- In subsequent
speeches, representatives of universities participating in the seminar
presented their experiences concerning the implementation of didactics in
the domain of Business Intelligence and Data Science. The Collegium of Economic
Analysis of SGH Warsaw School of Economics was represented by Dr. Przemysław
Szufel, Dr. Karol Przanowski and Dr. Sebastian Zając.
The exchange of
experiences regarding teaching methods, the technical environment supporting
remote learning, the applications used, case studies as well as the substantive
scope of the courses gave a development impulse for the planned
further activities. Consultations in a group of experts will take place in the
near future, the aim of which will be to develop a formula for further
cooperation.
