Dr. J. Capapé’s open lecture

​Department of Political Studies invites to an open lecture entitled “DO YOU KNOW WHO OWNS THE WORLD? SOVEREIGN WEALTH FUNDS: UNCOVERED” by Javier Capapé, PhD. The lecture will take place on 24 October 2017 at 17:00 hrs, Aula III (Main building) and will be followed by a Q&A session.The lecture will be devoted to activities of some of the less analysed investing entities: the sovereign wealth funds. Those funds, managing more than 7.2 trillion USD, simultaneously pose a threat to and are a chance for contemporary financial markets. The lecture will include analysis of portfolios of some of the largest sovereign wealth funds, threats and hopes related to actions undertaken by the funds, and their present and potential role in redefinition of understanding of what contemporary capitalism is.

He has coordinated the Sovereign Wealth Funds Reports series since 2012, an initiative backed by KPMG and ICEX.

He has published in top academic journals such as Academy of Management Perspectives and Oxford University Press. His research has been regularly cited in international media (Economist Intelligence Unit, Reuters, América Economía, Institutional Investor, The Globe and Mail, La Nación, Melhor Gestão de Pessoas, El País, Expansión, Cinco Días...).
He has presented his work on Sovereign Wealth Funds at the World Bank (Washington, D.C., USA); Bank of International Settlements (Basel, Switzerland); Sciences Po (Paris, France); University of Illinois (IL, USA); Academy of International Business (Vancouver, Canada) and Economics University (Prague, Czech Republic), and attended conferences or specialized courses at Harvard University (Cambridge, MA), London School of Economics (UK), OECD (Paris, France), Aspen Institute (Ronda, Spain), Qatar Investment Authority (Doha, Qatar), International Forum of SWFs (London, UK), Fondo Strategico Italiano (Milano), and Columbia University (New York).
He is Manager of Start Up Spain, an initiative representing all actors in the Spanish entrepreneurial ecosystem.
