Prestigious Prize for SGH Scholars

​Prestigious Prize for SGH Warsaw School of Economics Scholars 

On 19 February 2021, during the ceremony celebrating the Polish Science Day, the list of laureates of the prestigious prizes awarded by Poland’s Minister of Education and Science was announced.

The Team Prize for Outstanding Research Achievements was awarded to the authors of the book Diversity of Patchwork Capitalism in Central and Eastern Europe published in Routledge in 2019:

  • ​Ryszard Rapacki, Professor at the Department of Economics II
  • Adam Czerniak, Assistant Professor at the Department of Economics II
  • Juliusz Gardawski, Professor at the Institute of Philosophy, Sociology and Economic Sociology
  • Bożena Horbaczewska, Assistant Professor at the Department of Economics II
  • Adam Karbowski, Assistant Professor at the Department of Business Economics
  • Piotr Maszczyk, Assistant Professor at the Department of Economics II
  • Mariusz Próchniak, Associate Professor at the Department of Economics II, Dean of the Collegium of World Economy
  • Rafał Towalski, Assistant Professor at the Institute of Philosophy, Sociology and Economic Sociology.


The book is a comparative study which sheds a new empirical and theoretical light on the nature of post-communist capitalism in Poland and ten other EU new member countries of Central and Eastern Europe, or CEE11, against a broader backdrop of the models of Western capitalism co-existing in the European Union.
